Questions, answered
Short answers to what guests ask us most, from booking and arriving to the homes and getting around.
Booking and payment
Can I book directly with you?
Yes, right here on this site. Booking direct means no booking platform fees, and you deal with us from the start.
How do I pay?
By card when you book (including Apple Pay and Google Pay), or in cash when you arrive. Card bookings are paid in full at booking.
How does paying cash work?
Choose "Pay cash on arrival" at checkout and you save 10% on the nightly rate. Nothing is charged when you book. We save your card as a guarantee, and only charge it if you cancel late or don't arrive. You pay the full amount in cash at check in.
Which currencies can I pay cash in?
US dollars, Mexican pesos or Canadian dollars. If you choose pesos or Canadian dollars, we convert the US dollar total on the day you book, and that amount is fixed. It won't change before you arrive.
Can I pay by bank transfer?
Not at the moment. We take card when you book, or cash on arrival with your card saved as a guarantee.
How do I know a message about payment is really from you?
We only send payment details from an @vidafelizproperties.com email, through Guesty, or from our WhatsApp (+52 322 146 6354). We never ask for bank transfers, gift cards or crypto. If anyone asks you to pay another way, message us on WhatsApp before you pay.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel 30 days or more before check in for a full refund. Between 30 and 7 days before, you get 50% of the nightly rate back, plus the cleaning fee. Inside 7 days you get the cleaning fee back, but not the nightly rate. Changed your mind? Cancel within 24 hours of booking for a full refund, as long as check in is at least 7 days away. Card processing fees are never refunded. Full details on Policies.
Are there taxes or extra fees?
The total you see includes every mandatory fee, cleaning included. There's nothing added at the end.
Groups and split stays
Can we book more than one home for a group?
Yes. Search with your dates and group size, add two to four homes to your group from the results, and book them together in one checkout. Every home in a group is for the same dates. Or message us on WhatsApp and we'll book them for you.
Is there a group discount?
Yes. You get 5% off the nights when you book 2 homes together, and 10% off for 3 or 4. Cleaning fees aren't discounted. Paying cash on arrival? You save the 10% cash discount as well.
How does paying work for a group?
One checkout and one card for everyone. Each home is its own booking with its own confirmation code, so you'll see one charge per home, adding up to your total. Paying cash? Nothing is charged when you book, and your card is saved as a guarantee.
Can someone else in our group get the details for their home?
Yes. At checkout you can add a lead guest for each home. They become the guest on that booking, so its confirmation and arrival details go straight to them. You'll also get one email with every home in it.
What is a split stay?
When no single home is available for all your dates, we suggest two or three of our homes back to back. Each one sleeps your whole group, and our homes are a few doors apart on the same street.
How do I book a split stay?
Search your dates as usual. If no one home is available for them, you'll see "Stay the whole time, with an easy move" with up to three options. Choose one and book it in a single checkout: one set of details, one payment, one card. Each home sends its own confirmation.
Is there a split stay discount?
Yes. You get 5% off the nights, and you pay just one cleaning fee for the whole stay, not one per home.
What happens on moving day?
Check out of your first home by 11am. Your next home is a few doors away and ready from 3pm.
Are there any rules for split stays?
Each stay is at least 2 nights, and there are no more than two moves. The cancellation policy applies to each home on its own dates.
Arriving and leaving
What time is check in and check out?
Check in is from 3pm and check out is by 11am.
How do I get in?
All our homes have self check in. Your arrival details come by email a few days before you arrive.
How do I get from Puerto Vallarta airport to Sayulita?
It's 60 to 90 minutes by road. You can take an airport taxi, an Uber from across the pedestrian bridge, the green and white Compostela bus (about 1.5 hours, around 60 pesos), or our VIP transfer, which we can arrange for you: 4,000 pesos round trip for 1 to 3 guests, 4,500 pesos for 4 to 6. More on Getting here.
I left something behind. Can you send it?
Yes, we'll do our best. International shipping from Mexico is expensive, often over US$100, so we'll check with you first.
In the homes
Is the pool private or shared?
It depends on the home:
- Vida Feliz Casitas: a shared pool, and Casita 4 also has its own plunge pool
- Casa Aurora: the Main House has a private pool. The Casita and Studio use the shared pool at Vida Feliz Casitas, across the street
- Casa Karma: the Main House has a private pool, and the Casita has its own plunge pool
Is there air conditioning?
Yes, in every home, plus ceiling fans.
Are there power outages?
Now and then, like anywhere in Sayulita. We can provide candles if needed.
Is the wifi good enough to work?
Yes. Every home has high speed mesh wifi, usually 50 to 100 Mbps, which is fine for video calls and streaming.
Can I drink the tap water?
We provide purified drinking water in every home. The tap water is fine for showering and cooking, but drink the purified water.
Can the water run out?
Rarely. Each property stores its own water in tanks, so short town shortages don't usually reach you. If there's ever a problem, Tony sorts it quickly. Shower flow valves help save water.
Do you have beach towels and umbrellas?
Yes. Every home has beach towels, an umbrella and chairs.
Is there daily housekeeping?
No. Stays of a week or more get a mid-stay clean, and extra cleans can be arranged for a small fee.
Is there laundry?
The Casa Aurora Main House has a washer and dryer. In the other homes you'll find laundry bags, and we'll give you the contact for a local laundry service that picks up and delivers to your door.
Do you have a crib or high chair for babies?
Yes: a crib, a pack and play and a high chair. Let us know before you arrive and we'll set them up.
Is there a safe?
Yes, in every casita at Vida Feliz Casitas, in both homes at Casa Karma, and in the Casa Aurora Casita. The Casa Aurora Main House and Studio don't have one.
Are pets allowed?
Our house rules are no pets.
Can I get extra towels or drinking water during my stay?
Of course. Message Tony on WhatsApp and we'll bring what you need.
Getting around
Is there parking?
- Vida Feliz Casitas: a small parking area for golf carts, with outlets for charging. Cars park on the street
- Casa Aurora: one car space for the Main House. The Casita and Studio use street parking
- Casa Karma: private parking for the Main House, a golf cart spot for the Casita
Need more room? There's extra parking past Casa Florence, on the paved road along the orchard.
Should I rent a car?
Probably not. Sayulita is small and walkable, and parking and traffic in town can be hard. A golf cart is easier.
Can I rent a golf cart?
Yes, we have our own carts for guests. See Golf cart rental and the full rental agreement. If ours are booked, Riviera Golf Carts is a good alternative and delivers.
Can I get a taxi?
Yes. White taxis wait in the town square, and Tony can recommend trusted drivers.
How far is the beach?
Playa Sayulita is about 7 to 8 minutes on foot, and the quieter Playa de los Muertos about 8 to 9 minutes.
Is it safe to walk home at night?
Generally, yes. Guests walk home at night all the time. Use the lit streets and the usual care you would anywhere.
Are the homes secure?
Yes. Our homes have security features and our team checks on them regularly.
